What we’ve been up to this month…
We have been looking into the theme of “all about me” where we have explored family photographs, modelled our loved ones using playdough, celebrated all the things that make us who we are, deep dived into family types and what they look like- this was such a special opportunity for our little ones to really celebrate their family.
We have began getting our garden ready for autumn where the children have gotten hands on in the polly tunnel and have chosen what we are planting this year.

What’s happening next month…
We are going to be exploring the theme “transport and vehicles” where we will be looking at different jobs which use transport, different modes of transport creating our own models, painting and roleplaying. We will also be looking at ways we can help the planet by walking to nursery rather than driving for example.
This month we will be celebrating Diwali making a range of different crafts, learning more about the celebration and culture and cooking up some different global dishes too!
We will be bringing in the celebration of Harvest into our roleplay shop and as we are preparing our garden for autumn talking about our food and helping others.

Activities we will do at nursery:
- We will be making clay lamps for Diwali
- Cooking cultural dishes
- Painting handprint buses
- Walking a “bear hunt” sensory walk- each step has a different sensory experience linking to the next stage of the story
- Roleplaying going on a plane.
October Preschool focus:
We will welcome our next pre-school cohort into daily sessions in our pre-school space led by Evie and Fran where they will explore the focus for the month being numbers and their formation.
We will embed the routine of exploring the days of the week, the weather and completing the register at the beginning of each session. If you have any questions regarding your little ones pre-school year please contact us and we can support you through this exciting process.

Some ideas to do at home:
- Counting in play
- Using natural resources such as acorns to build the numbers 1-5
- Reading stories about different transport
- Go on a bus or a train ride with your little one
- Do painting with plastic cars rolling the tracks through the paint to see what happens on the paper.
